"A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instil a love of learning."

About
Learning for Life Tutoring is run by Janelle Ryan, an experienced classroom teacher holding a master’s degree in education. Janelle completed the SPELD NSW Teacher’s Certificate Course (focusing on evidence-based teaching of children with specific learning difficulties) in 2017, was placed on the SPELD NSW Tutor database, and has been tutoring students with a variety of learning differences since then.
Janelle has worked for many years in a range of schools, teaching all grades from Kindergarten to Year 6 as a classroom teacher. She has also been employed as a learning and support teacher, an EALD teacher, and most recently a teacher of gifted children in an independent girls’ school, having completed the UNSW Mini Certificate of Gifted Education. Janelle has recently featured on the SPELD NSW website. Click here to read more about her experience.
Through testing, observation, and discussion with students and parents, Janelle identifies areas of need for each individual and implements a program which will build on strengths, help to overcome weaknesses via direct, explicit instruction, and maintain the interests of the student through varied activities. Technology is utilised alongside more traditional learning tools, and educational games help to make learning fun!
Feedback to parents is regular, and contact with the child’s class teacher may be initiated at the parents’ request. This can be very useful in ensuring that the school, home and tutor are all working together.
